whoooooooo this is my 400th post! I told myself when I posted my 399th post, that my 400th blog entry must be a happy one. Hahaha and yup I'm feeling happy!
Firstly, I've got company tomorrow! A million thanks to my lil' 'puppy'! =D Errrm and my 'puppy's friend who's also my friend! Hmmm actually I wanted to type more stuff here, but "some things are better left unsaid," as quoted from the animal itself haha. (doesn't sound right man)
Secondly, well the school spent money to put these up... (stupid flags are a distraction)Hmm well I wouldn't exactly say that they like to waste money on such stuff, but these really make me feel proud of PL's performing arts groups. Who cares if we didn't get a single gold?
So what if we have like, 6 silvers? The school isn't bothered by these. God has great plans for PL and He definitely will bless us with more golds and gold with honours =) We just need to... ... (I'm thinking of what the handbellers did, all those prayer sessions ;))
And here, of course, my pride and joy:
PL Handbell and Handchime Ensemble! Wahaha and they put my section up, the melody ringers! Omg leh. The word "Honours" is bigger than the "Gold". Hahaha Jesus rocks Mr Fong rocks Mrs Lee rocks PL rocks the Aesthetics Department rocks Handbell rocks and Treblers/Melody ringers, we rock! W00t!
My heart swells with pride every time I walk in and out of the school..
Truth is, so far only 4 times. Entry and exit yesterday and today lol.
Thirdly, I must warn and remind you to look at the disclaimer on your right again, you might roll your eyes and go "whatever" and say all sorts of rubbish... Read. The. Disclaimer.
This is my blog after all, so I believe I have the rights, the freedom to post my thoughts?
My advice is this: if you have anything against me, anything at all, please navigate away from this page this instant. Thank you.
Thirdly, I'm getting to my point now, I want to thank God for letting me get the academic book prize thingy... I seriously didn't expect myself to top the level (there's only one class taking this subject so top the class = top the level) for POA. Sheila is a lot more hardworking than I am, and that's a fact. By right, her POA is better than mine... I must admit, though, that I did aim for the top position. But my preparation for the subject is quite crappy. It's mostly last-minute work. How I managed to climb up here, there is only one way, and that is, by God's grace. I mean what else la! Don't you agree? BFC any of you guys reading this?
Mrs Ong asked me to collect some letter from her regarding this book prize... but I forgot. Goodness. I actually forgot about it. Wow..
And finally, I think Mr Fong ought to know that 3 out of 8 sec 3 express '06 (in short, sec 4 '07) handbellers will be getting this prize thing =D Are we blessed or what... I think handbell is like the smallest CCA group, even smaller than harp or any other clubs and societies group! Hehs ^^
Thank You Lord, thank You for everything! And I mean everything. =))

...Imagine me, trying too hard to put you from my mind ...
Warning: sick content
I can't stand it. The flow is so heavy...
High tide, high tide. Quite obvious, what I'm talking about.
It flows and drips, some slipping down my leg when I'm bathing.
3rd day already leh why still so much?!
This is accompanied by the frequent urge to visit the toilet to shit, and/or clean up.
Thank God, no cramps or I'll just die.
Hating red at the moment.
End of warning.
=( I'm sad because it looks like I have to go to the ICA alone this Wednesday, after the CME exam...
And the "best" thing is, it'll be crowded. Thanks to the ICA's temporary suspension of services for the whole of last week. So people will flood the place this week.
I can't collect my IC next week, nor the week after, that's the common test period.
Can't go this Thursday and Friday either. (Colours Award rehearsal, music coursework)
So it has to be this Wednesday, 1 August.
Hmm but I can go this Saturday morning too right? The crowd is my only concern.
Whatever. I'll still be alone on both days, with only my books for company. I mean who'd want to go all the way to Lavender with me la. This sucks ok.

sing "prima donna" once more
Think of me
think of me fondly,
when we've said goodbye.
Remember me
once in a while -
please promise me
you'll try.
FIRMIN
Andre, this is doing nothing for my nerves.
ANDRE
Don't fret, Firmin.
CHRISTINE
When you find that,
once again, you long
to take your heart back and be free -
if you ever find a moment,
spare a thought for me
(Transformation to the Gala. CHRISTINE is
revealed in full costume)
We never said our love was evergreen,
or as unchanging as the sea -
but if you can still remember
stop and think of me . . .
Think of all the things
we've shared and seen -
don't think about the things
which might have been . . .
Think of me,
think of me waking,
silent and resigned.
Imagine me,
trying too hard
to put you from my mind.
Recall those days
look back on all those times,
think of the things we'll never do -
there will never be a day, when
I won't think of you . .
(Applause, bravos. Prominent among the bravos, those
of the young RAOUL in the MANAGERS' box)
RAOUL
Can it be?
Can it be Christine?
Bravo!
(he raises his opera-glasses)
What a change!
You're really not a bit
the gawkish girl that once you were...
(lowering his opera-glasses)
She may not remember me, but
I remember her...
CHRISTINE
We never said our love was evergreen,
or as unchanging as the sea -
but please promise me, that sometimes
you will think of me!
And now, back to studying...
Haydn is my good friend who played a huge part in contributing to the sonata form.
His Symphony No. 104 was first performed on a concert in May 4, 1795.
The concert featured an all-Haydn program at the King's Theatre.
Too bad I wasn't born yet.
This has been a bloody weekend and it's making me feel damn bloody uncomfortable.
Literally. Time to stock up once more.
Urgggggh okok I'm being sick here.
I should control my emotions and not let them control me. Sigh.
Heck, it's God I really need...
Nobody, nothing is permanent.. But He is...
He will control the situation, me, everything.
Lord please take over...

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
I seriously need to go back to my old ways (the good ones duh) and start QT daily again...
The school's morning devotion is so not enough, they screw it almost every time, though I must say I'll miss it a lot after sec school.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Lean not on your own understanding, yes... the very thing we as human beings always do...
I love PL. Majority of the PL lites are so honest, you'll never see this anywhere else ok..
Lets see, I've lost my wallet thrice in school, and got it back all 3 times.
I left my file on the canteen piano with 6 funfair tickets inside, and it was still there the next day, nothing was missing.
Basically if I lose anything in school I almost always get it back. Isn't it wonderful?
Unfortunately the world isn't as perfect as this school. (fine, it isn't)
But the fact still remains, after 10 years of PLMGS, it all ends with the O levels and we have to move on =(
Right. Move on...

deathly hallows
School today was somewhat unusual...
No doubt there were spoilers around, trying to recite who died in the Deathly Hallows book, what happened, who got married to who, ... ...
Spoil the fun man!
As if I haven't got enough spoilers during the weekend! lol.
And the book caused some form of excitement:
"wah joyce you got the book!!!"
"let me see!"
"did you queue for very long?"
"how much did you pay for it??"
Ok yes I have the book, (I finally finished reading it!) walked into a bookshop in PS on Saturday afternoon, paid for it over the counter and walked away with it.
(fine, ML helped me buy it. i was in the toilet)
It's that simple... Walk in, ask for it, pay for it, walk out, I don't why people bother to go and queue up in the wee hours of the morning, or even pre-order the book. Unless, of course, there is a free delivery.
Book 7 has a bittersweet ending.
Why must so many characters die? Why why why?
Especially Fred, Dobby and Hedwig! Oh man..
Back on topic...
Another question which kept popping out was,
"Eh joyce why today your face so red?"
I had the urge to say "oh i'm thinking of someone" or "i miss someone" or "i put a lot of blusher".
Stupid lame answers, I know, haha.
Fact is my arms and legs are red too. Especially my arms.
Can see the sleeve line there, yikes!
Thanks to the sun at Palawan Beach in Sentosa.
I'm having problems understanding organic chemistry, there is a whole load of stuff to memorise =(
Hmmm I think I'll start to mug alone at Macs, like what I did during the MYE period.
Home is seriously a distracting place.

the emo bug strikes
I'm either being attacked by the emo bug or simply PMS-ing.
Somehow, I really regret taking up music as an O level subject.
The music studies component seems so foreign to me... something which I really cannot do.
I'm depending on my performing component to pull up the marks now.
I'm so thankful we're majoring in performing and not music writing, cos' I still have no idea which poem to use for the coursework. =.=
I don't think composing is very 'me'.
Congratulations to the new exco of PLHB, I hope you girls will do your best to unite the whole choir as one, and growing musically, spiritually as well as academically.
Especially to Diana my lil' buddy, I am so proud of you! =)
One thing I hate to see in this choir is backstabbing. Which has been going on for some time. Please don't do it alright, especially to those in your own level..
Everyone is special and unique in their own ways my dears, just accept and love one another.
And work hard to bring PLHB to greater heights.
I'm having mixed feelings now...
80% of me wants to leave PLHB ASAP, yes, very different from what I thought, maybe about a week ago.
Prelims, girl, prelims. Please focus on your studies...

HPOotP
I'll be 16 in a month!
Hahaha look at my profile on the right ---->
18 August! It's a Saturday by the way. At least this year it falls on a weekend, it can't coincide with a common test, class test or prelim paper.
I'm not hinting anything, no.
Since when has my birthday been nice anyway?
We had our health check today, the nurse didn't make me buy a new health booklet!
And I wasn't asked to take my height and weight so does that put me in the 'acceptable' range now? I don't want to remain 'underweight'!
It so happened that I decided to come to school in spectacles instead of contacts today, and so now I know how bad my eyesight really is.
I couldn't even see the LARGEST letter on the eye check thingy with alphabets of different sizes.
Level morning jog today was kinda short.
I'm half hoping I won't get shortlisted for the DPA...
Even if I do, I can still withdraw from it next month (=
*SPOILER ALERT, HPOotP*
From Elaine's blog,
the show overall was not what i expected it to be, there's is so little action, story is so short while the book is so thick.
And they miss a lot of parts from the book.
Those who had read the book will know and their reaction the movie would be the same haha.
I went to watch Harry and the Hogwarts gang after school today, with Xi Ying and Sara.
We planned to go to the Cathay, but went to AMK Hub instead.
Why? Cos' the movie tickets there are sold at $6 before 5pm for students! =D Cheaper.
I think yours truly was the one with an "emotional range of a teaspoon" (not just Ron).
The suspense level was like this throughout:
--------------------------------------------------------
That's how I feel about it la. Sirius Black's death was too brief, it should have been more dramatic.
1) The dementor attack scene was too short!
2) Where was Harry's trunk and owl when they flew to Grimmauld Place on broomsticks?
2) Harry was supposed to flare up and get really pissed with Ron and Hermoine in the room.
3) The Order was not introduced properly.
4) QUIDDITCH WAS CUT OFF COMPLETELY!!! How can this be, when this was so evident in the book?! How could they cut this out??
5) Trelawney was supposed to be sacked when Harry was having Occlumency with Snape!
6) The producers did not show the students' lessons with their teachers wth.
7) And what about the prefects? They didn't mention the prefects at all.
8) It wasn't Cho who betrayed the DA lah, it was her friend!
9) Dobby the house elf was supposed to warn the DA about Umbridge's surprise check, she wasn't supposed to blow up the damn wall with her wand!
10) It wasn't Malfoy who broke the prophecy, Neville dropped it, not the blonde!
11) The Department of Mysteries was so -___-|||
10) Bellatrix was not supposed to escape through the floo network!
11) The statues at the Fountain of Magical Brethren was supposed to come to life and protect Dumbledore and Harry.
12) Hagrid had his inspection during one of the Care of Magical Creatures lesson, not in his HUT.
13) The knight bus, where was it?
14) The Quibbler wasn't mentioned at all, let alone the Harry's interview with Rita!
15) Uh, how about the fifth year students' meeting with their Heads of Houses regarding their careers?
16) Where was Firenze?
17) Ron wasn't supposed to be in the Forbidden Forest when Hagrid introduced Grawp!
18) And for St. Mungo's? Where was it?
19) Mundungus Fletcher was missing from the movie.
20) Why didn't Harry put his head into the fire to check if Sirius was in Grimmauld Place?
Thumbs up to the following:
1) The kissing scene. It was long and good, Daniel and Katie make a good yet not so good pair.
2) Evanna Lynch, who played Luna in the movie, was fantastic!
3) Imelda Stauton brought out Umbridge's character really well! Her laughter irritated the audience a lot, so did her height and her PINK stuff, urgh.
4) Fred and George's havoc scene.
5) Harry's disciplinary hearing
I'm so not satisfied with the movie! The Goblet of Fire was better, really.

Thank God for canned coffee
I so wanna thank God for the Nescafe sold in school...
If not for that, I would have zzzz-ed for accounts lesson!
And I'm not the only one!
I went for today's lesson armed with the cylindrical can of bitter liquid, and I managed to stay awake for 3 whole periods!
I need:
1. a new school bag, aka bag to be carried to school. there's a huge HOLE in my current bag which cannot be mended.
2. a wallet. those who have seen what i'm using now will agree and nod till their heads threaten to fall out.
3. an ezlink card. but i'm not sure if i should go and make a new one or continue to pay extra for standard tickets (MRT) cos' there's only a few months left.
4. someone to accompany me to ICA to collect my IC on 1st August, Wednesday.
5. a hug. anyone? hahaha
Thanks to the hot weather and stress from the teachers and my parents to do well for O levels, those glands are acting up again...
I'm getting a lot of pimples, and I really mean A LOT.
I need a mask too.
Sigh I hope they won't become scars.
Other than the pimple crap and global warming,
I'm happy! I'm happy! I'm happy! I'm elated! I'm elated! I'm elated! =)
(it's not without a reason because it would be useless if there was no reason so there is a reason and we can say that the source of my joy is also the reason why i'm happy and this is not without reason. objective of the words here in brackets: confuse the reader xD)
But how long will this joy last?

PL commemorates Racial Harmony Day
I took a bus to school with Xi Ying this morning in our costumes we felt so paiseh!!!
Haha... Seemed like many people went in school u and then changed out.
Honestly it's the first time I saw so many ppl in the toilets before 7am in the morning.
Well minus school camps, that is.
I'm pro ok, I forgot my SS, POA and English stuff so I was a little lost during these lessons.
Contestants of the Ms Racial Harmony pageant, all of them looked pretty especially TANIA who represented 4c2! Well done Filch! We're proud of you!And this is part of 4c2. If I'm not wrong, some were in the toilet...
Hehe credits to Tania for this photo! She's the one in the wig =/
I'm not sure if I want to post more photos here cos' I look quite... gross.
Haha.
The listening comprehension exam seemed pretty cool at first, it was broadcasted on Symphony 92.4FM (my favourite radio station yo) and there was 1/2 hour of music which supposedly helped to calm our nerves...
They even played a familiar tune, John Pachelbel's Canon and Guigue in D.
I liked the horn concerto :D supported by a symphony orchestra..
There was a waltz which was played in duple time. Aren't waltzes ALWAYS played in the triple meter? Ok weird.
And there was this piece, the most interesting one of all, they used some high pitched woodwind instruments I think, to imitate the sound of birds chirping! That one really woke the sleepy and stoned class up. I forgot who the composer is, damn. But I'm certain it's a modern piece of work.
Then the exam itself... omg, disaster.
I totally didn't know the answers to the qns for the 2nd passage.
We had to change into school uniform for the exam by the way. Duh -.-

over and over again
Hello world...
My head hurts like siao now. I'm still cracking my brains, thinking of what to type for the DPA application. =/
Hmmm, I love accounts? I love Mrs Tan ML who taught me to love accounting?
Haha. Ok I know I can't put that in lah. This is so last minute.
I dropped by the handbell room to visit the sec 1-3s on Friday, after stoning in the IT Resource Room with some of the O'lvl music girls for what seemed like weeks.
Xi Ying and Fiona were so amused with the photo booth on the macs can...
Crazy girls lol.
The first thing I got when I stepped into the room was some blank stares from the juniors and Mr Fong saying "Joyce, go there and help with the scores"
Apparently there was some mistake with the CLTCL score.
And Mr Fong flared up la, though I did not (get to) see how he did and why he did so.
Which is a good thing I guess.
Not a very nice way to have my first after-retirement visit turn out like that eh.
I've been smsing a lot lately.
But not as extreme as Ling Ying la duh.
However... I now know it's not impossible to msg the same person for the whole day.
Ok fine not the WHOLE day but yeah you get what I mean.
My mother showed last month's bill to me and it was an extra $10, exceeded my free 150mins of free outgoing calls. She didn't scold me though, which was quite surprising. Ah still...
Do I talk that much??
Haha and finally, I'd like to end off with this... which I'll remember for a very long time.
"I would have my private plane to give you free ride!"
So says the one with big dreams, who wants to be a pilot! (eh be honoured i mentioned you here)
How come so many people want to be pilots? The thing I'm most afraid of is a plane crash. hahaha.

performance pictures, dilemma
Some pictures from 3rd july
Same thing, I dunno how many will see this, so tag if you're here, handbeller or not.
And now the big question mark:
I want to go to ACJC... but the cut-off point is so low, so impossible for me to achieve..
So I'm thinking of DPA-ing, poly life isn't that bad..
But now the problem is, which course? I've picked out 3 which I'm interested in.
Not sure which poly yet, but I'm certain RP is out because it's wayyyy too far (sorry tim)
1) Accountancy (and Finance)
2) Biomedical Science
3) Environmental Management and Water Technology
How... Which one? DPA, or JAE with everyone else?
tag replies

It's over. It's over. It's over. It's over. It's over. It's over.
I feel useless and out of place again.
This is just part of what I want to say. The rest is posted somewhere else.
The sec 4s haven't exactly left PLHB yet and the sec 3s have already made 2 major mistakes which led to a considerably high level of panic.
1) Forgot to bring the keys for bell boxes just before the rehearsal
(luckily Mrs Wong brought one set)
2) Forgot to bring the trays for the chimes for the performance
Remember I said I was going to post about LY? Just read HL's blog. Everything's there, which is a good thing cause I can save blog space.
Time to hit the books once more...
Back to reality.

gone with the wind
Your Grace Is Sufficient
By Martin J. Nystrom
© 1991 Integrity's Hosanna! Music/ASCAP
Your grace is sufficient for me
Your strength is made perfect
When I am weak
All that I cling to
I lay at Your feet
Your grace is sufficient for me
I'm no longer striving
To merit Your love
I rest in Your promise to me
That all of my sins have
Been washed in Your blood
Your mercy is all that I need
You see me as righteous
Because of the blood
That made the atonement for me
Your mercy has triumphed
Where I should be judged
So now by Your grace I am free
His grace is more than sufficient... so much, we can't contain it.
Our cup is only this small, and yet He gives us more than what we can take.
Our Lord Jesus has truly blessed the PL Handbell Choir =)
This has been a great year, and I did not expect this CCA to strengthen me spiritually.
It's not just another performing arts group.
Not just another Gold with Honours recipient.
God's beloved children, that's who we are.
I took this photo with my phone (not supposed to, but I did it anyway)
Mr Fong listed out God's blessingsIt says/means
1) We get the invitation from ACSBR to go to Japan for this cultural music exchange... even before we went for the central judging. Mr Fong was saying something like, "Even if you get silver for SYF, y'all will still be going to Japan."
2) the Gold with Honours award which we worked hard for, practicing twice a week.. with me doubting our standard. But after I read the blogs of other school handbellers... ;p
3)According to Mr Fong, PLHB is the top handbell ensemble...
4) (according to mr fong again) Our flight to and from Osaka was supposed to be Japan Airlines, but got upgraded to Singapore Airlines at no extra charge
5) God provided superb accommodation -- three 5 star hotels for our 4 night stay. (i personally liked the ryokan best)
6) I wouldn't say there were extra funds, but Mrs Wong said they wanted to refund us something.. 600 yen, equivalent to S$7.60. Not just that. When I handed out the $10 notes and collected the change from the handbellers, $5 'appeared' mysteriously in the envelope. Which went into the handbell fund. haha.
7) THS liked our performance during the Friends concert alawwwwwt, considering their orchestras were much stronger and better (factors: quantity, enough time to practice, etc) and we made damn alot of mistakes that day.
Mr Fong also said they actually wanted us to.................... (i think i will omit this part cos' it will sound like i'm uhm, boasting...)
8) I add this one myself-- we're blessed with a dedicated and supportive team of teachers (mrs lee the principal, mrs wong, ms goh, ms loh) and alumni. Without them, all these would not have been possible too.
TOMORROW WILL BE PLHB SEC 4S' LAST PUBLIC PERFORMANCE, AND LAST PERFORMANCE IN A CONCERT HALL.
I hope it turns out like the evening Kaleidoscope concert, or better.
Just not another one like the rehearsal last week or the Friends concert.
---
Today, I went to the ICA to make my new IC.
Sophia very kindly agreed to go there with me!!! =D
After I asked like 3/5 of my contact list... She let me heave a sigh of relief!
haha, the whole journey plus procedure was approximately 2 hrs.
Which is not bad already, considering today's a school holiday.
After that I went to meet HL and ML at Macs at Compass Point...
I managed to finish Ms Kok's homework and understand a bit more about inheritance for bio.
Yay.
Watch this space, I will be blogging about LY in the next post.

Incineration Plant, Jogathon, Chill Out
happy BELATED birthdays, Joe (cell leader, 21st June)
and Joey! (horse, 28th June)
Their names are so alike right! Hahaha!
Ok. I know you all are waiting for photos. 4c2 is waiting for the Incineration Plant class photo. The rest of the photos from that day can be found here, if anyone's interested.
Haha. You girls can start saving the pics... note that the right click is disabled here hor.And Ms Loh's lit notes on the whiteboardSome O'lvl music girls are waiting for our top secret photos which obviously cannot be put up here... ask me for them on MSN or something. haha.
BFC is waiting for photos too.
These are all I've got. The rest is with Wan Hui! And the one below is from Chill Out, with Jacelyn and Chui Laam(?) missing from the pic.Had a good time of games, praise and worship, sermon by Pst Thomas, dinner at Chill Out yesterday.
Our cell, Beautiful Feet, also known as team L, got 2nd runner up!
Not bad leh! I couldn't believe it. We actually won something. Haha
We're a bunch of enthusiastic youths! =D
After the light dinner I went for an early supper with the girls. Prata! lols.
The day before yesterday, Friday, the teachers very cleverly avoided a Youth Day celebration.. It was replaced with the jogathon/walk-a-jog at East Coast Park.
Participants = Mass Runners + Competitive Runners = Whole school.Route was 3.5km. God always and never fails to provide us with good weather for school outdoor events. Haha.
Although MANY of us were secretly hoping it would rain.
I happened to fall in the competitive runners category...
I thought that 3.5km was really looooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggggggggggggggggg and so I prayed for a long time and sang We'll Be Faithful over and over again in my head as I jogged the entire route. Slowly.
Wanted to conserve my energy for the last km.
But I didn't know exactly how much I'd jogged until 2 girls shouted "400m more!"
I even thought they were kidding... until I saw the "finish" banner.
Because I jogged too slowly, and I started off at the back, and I only sprinted when the banner came into sight this is my position ----> 23/100.
3 more only leh! Then can get trophy! I should have started at the front!
And jogged faster! And stop thinking that there's still a long way to go!
Cos' at the end of the route it actually felt like it was less than 2.4km, darn.
Still, thank You Jesus for placing me within the top 25... this proves that even ppl from performing arts groups who play music all day under air-con (handbells) can run.
Not just those from uniformed or sports groups.
I'm also aware that some from the former and latter (lol) ran slowly on purpose...
Though I don't see what their objective is.
My Chinese oral is on Thursday, and the 'best' thing is I'm the last candidate of the day.
tag replies:
[Shepherd] Japan trip was FUN! =) hehe.. and thanks for thanking me about the dinner -.-
